Have you ever wanted to race for 24 Hours? Well here is your chance.

Greetings Opponuats,
I hope your holidays are very merry. It is time for another post !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
At the moment, we have 3 drivers signed up and are looking to recruit some more. Ideally, I would like 3 more drivers with at least 1 interested in running the overnight.
BTW: The 3 who signed up should have received team invites by now.
A live look in of the Driver and Oppo Community polls both align and show the Audi R8 to be the Oppo GT3 racecar of choice; however, I will not officially announce the car we will run until after the Oppo sign-up period. I plan on having the exclusive Oppo sign-ups open until the middle of next week. I will then open it to the iRacing community to fill in the empty seats.
For those unaware of the event here is a Reader’s Digest version.
iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona.
Time and Date: ~7:30AM January 21st to ~9AM January 22nd, 2017.
Cars: C7 Daytona Prototype & GT3 sportscars.
Team based event with up to 16 drivers per team.

If it comes down to it, we could definitely survive with 3. If everyone’s schedules allow. That’s 8 hours of driving each. Do 4 hours stints and we can divide them amongst ourselves. It will definitely be hard mode to the max, though, since 4 hours is what real, professional teams of 3 run at the real thing.

It is doable with 3. I can only do Saturday as I have a business trip to leave for Sunday morning. The last time I did it with 4 people which wasn’t too bad (especially because I messed up the driver management - but I learned).

Also, if we need a couple more, there are several others on the service that need a ride so we can try to bum 1 or 2 more people.

I mean, I would love to, but someone out there with his finger out the window shouting “JUST GO AROUND ALREADY” isn’t really that great of an option now is it? Plus, I’d have to dust off the seat...
and it’s a bit dirty.

Right now it is 3 to 1 for the Audi GT3 on the driver poll, and 6 votes on the community poll. I was hoping to get a better sample size, but we probably won’t.
I am still planning on finding some extra iRacers to help out the team, but I think I will make one more post for the after holiday then start recruiting.
Have you received the team invite on iRacing?

I just wish I had a fixed seat like yours. My computer chair tends to roll away under heavy braking.

Ow me me me me me! I got iRacing a few weeks ago. There’s a tryout right? I don’t wanna lose the race due everyone.

Yeah, the chances of me getting through two four hour stints are pretty close to zero, though the Audi’s easier to drive than the prototype.

Pls don’t crash our car. My plan is to hold position and not crash. I’m pretty good at driving other sim GT3s while hotlapping, so I hope those skills transfer to real racing.

Haha, I don’t intend to crash it. Was just hoping for more people participating becauase eight hours of simracing is alot. I used to race the Lotus 79 in iRacing and our races were generally about an hour. By the end of one of those, I’d be pretty spent, though that’s a much faster and trickier car.

I like the enthusiasm. No tryout. I will probably host a couple practices in the next week. Also there is the Roar before the 24 between the 12th and 14th.
Most of us are novices so don’t fear, we are doing this for fun.

My plan is to cross the finish line after 24 Hours. It would be nice to not crash, but I am a realist lol.

When I did it with 4 people it was quite taxing, but not all bad. Once you get beyond the Lap 1 Turn 1 hype, everyone settles in for a Saturday cruise.

I’m going to grab a 4 pack of Red Bull for sure. I’ll likely pick up the overnight (it’s pretty much my usual schedule on the weekends XD), so I’ll need to be still be at (relatively) peak performance in the wee hours, for the last driver or two to push to the finish.
I think it’ll be fun no matter what happens, though. Maybe we’ll be involved in some dramatic crash or something lol.

Yes sir. I think keeping the car clean should take precedence over position tbh. Just finishing the race is an achievement and a half.

The setup, while dirty, has served me well and is without question the best way to to run a racing sim. I at one point had a 60 inch TV mounted to it for Gran Tourismo, but then switched to PC racing and that went away. Now I watch the kid.

I wish I had a PC capable of running iRacing as I’d enjoy something like this.
If anyone here has any interest in a G27 wheel I have one being unused since the PS4 isn’t compatible.
